The Rocky Mountains serve as the backdrop for the cattle production of the ranches of Diamond Willow.
Alberta’s Foothills have seen massive herds of bison graze during the winter months of the past 10,000 years. The beef cattle now raised on these same hills match an ethic perfected by tradition and respect for the animal and the land, utilizing the natural habitat that is unchanged from the days of the bison.
To be a rancher in Western Canada means we also pledge to look after the watersheds and wildlife that co-exist on these hills. The families of Diamond Willow are acutely aware and supportive of the need for sustainable ranching within an ecologically-sensitive framework. This is the wisdom and ethic that brought us to produce certified organic beef as a natural complement to the ancient grasslands we strive to protect.
The Diamond Willow collaborative is made up of seven certified organic ranching families in Western Canada. It has been more than 100 years since some of our ancestors started ranching on these lands. The tradition for uncompromising quality has continued by using the practices and lessons learned, which have been passed down from generation-to-generation. We have learned to take advantage of the range's natural production and protect the grass and wildlife communities.
